Sean Wijesinghe to lead Kandy SC

By Shamseer Jaleel Former Trinity and Sri Lanka fifteens skipper Sean Wijesinghe will lead the Kandy Sports Club in the coming rugby season which will kick off in early November this year. Sean played for Trinity in 2000 and 2001 and won colors in Rugby Football and basketball as well. Sean has been representing Kandy SC for more than 13 years. He led the Kandy SC to become the triple champions in 2011. Sean while representing Sri Lanka at the Asian Five Nations top 5 against Japan met with an injury to his knees which was damaged badly. He was out of rugby for nearly one full year in the recovery process. He was involved with the team in 2007 when Sri Lanka got promoted from Division I to Top 5 in Asia back in 2007. Johan Taylor was the Head Coach with Imthisam Marrikar being the deputy on this tour. Sean who was involved in coaching at his alma-mater at Trinity under Neil Foote this year later on gave up due to his commitment with the Kandy Sports Club. Sean who is a strict disciplined lad will get the full support from the Kandy SC committee headed by Dr. Sarath Kapuwatte and its Patron Malik Samarawickrema. The committee had decided to get back the former coach Johan Taylor who will be in Kandy in 1 month’s time.
