Second Asian schools Rugby Sevens Championship to kick off on 22 July

The second Asian Schools Rugby Sevens Championship at Under 18 level will be worked off in Hong Kong from 22 to 26 July. Hong Kong are defending champions.

The first Asian School Boys Rugby Sevens Champions was also held in Hong Kong last year and was an important milestone in Asian rugby development when eight national representative teams participated. This year two additional teams will take part in which event which will see the participation of future stars of Asian rugby.

The touring Sri Lankan Under 18 outfit will be selected this weekend. Former Zahirian  CR and FC player and Sri Lanka sevens player Mohamed Mushtaq will be the Head Coach on tour who will be on one-year contract with Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU).

  • Defending champions and Gold medal: Hong Kong, China 
  • Silver medal: Taipei 
  • Bronze medal: Malaysia 
  • Pool A: Hong Kong, Singapore, Guam, 
  • India, China, 
  • Pool B: Malaysia, 

Thailand, Cambodia, Mongolia, Sri Lanka
