Seylan, Union advance to Women’s and Men’s A Basketball division final

Seylan Bank advanced to the Womens “A” division Final and NDB Bank advanced to the Women’s “B” division Final, in the ongoing 26th MSBA League Basketball Tournament 2016, continued at the Henry Pedris and Otter AC Courts on Tuesday.

    Seylan Bank scored a convincing 44/32 win over Nations Trust Bank, after leading 22/17 at half time; Tharjini Sivalingam  was the top shooter for Seylan; Niroshini Paiva  (12) played an intelligent game for NTB.

    NDB Bank trounced Mobitel, 75/45 after leading, 38/26 at half time; Natasha Perera (30)  and Hasini Ariyaratne  (28) were in brilliant form  for NDB;  Gayani Wijesiri  (20) played a lone hand for Mobitel. 

    Union Assurance finished on top of the  league table with a comprehensive 50/38 win over DFCC Bank in the Mens “A” division Tournament; UAL held a good 25/17 lead at half time;  The winning trio for UAL were, Roshan Randima  (17), Isuru  Perera & Shehan Udayanga (11) ;  Tharindu Sankalpa  (10)  was the top scorer for DFCC. 

     UAL & DFCC  (2nd in the table) thus qualified for the Semi Finals, and will meet the 3rd & 4th place teams in the table  (not yet decided) 

    NDB Bank  advanced to the  Mens “C” division final with a fine 76/56 win over LB Finance;  NDB held a commanding lead of 41/25 at the breather;  the winning trio for NDB were – Fawshan Deen (30) , D. Dilan (15)  and Jude Akila (12) ;  Gihan Sarinda  (21) and Stephen Fernando  (15)  played a hard game for LBF.

    The round robin stage is at its last stages, the finals  of the Mens A,B,C,D and E and the Women’s  A and B are scheduled to be held on 11 , 12 , 13 and 14 October at Henry Pedris Courts.
