The Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows have now sealed a third consecutive Constructors’ World Championship title with a 60th Formula One Grand Prix victory.
Mercedes AMG Petronas (593) lead Red Bull (385) by 208 points in the Constructors’ Championship, an unassailable lead with four races remaining in the 2016 season.
Nico Rosberg (313) leads the Drivers’ Championship, positioned 33 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton (280), with the battle for the Drivers’ title now solely between the two Silver Arrows drivers.
Mercedes AMG Petronas Executive Director (Technical) Paddy Lowe said: “A terrific result today and congratulations to the whole team for securing a third consecutive Constructors’ World Championship. This has come from a huge amount of great work over many years and is an achievement that every individual will treasure.”
Mercedes-Benz is the only luxury car manufacturer to take part in Formula 1, which is the highest class of single-seat auto racing sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile.
Only Mercedes-Benz has the technical superiority and expertise not only to take part in but also keep winning year after year. The prowess of Mercedes-Benz is even more evident with the fact that three other F1 teams opt to use Mercedes-Benz engines in their cars – Sahara Force India Formula One Team, Manor Racing MRT and Williams Martini Racing.
