Wesley College wing three-quarter Avishka Lee continues his dominance, as he usually does on the field, in the fourth week of the Singer-the Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy Ruggerite of the Year and the School Team of the Year 2017 competitions.

Lee adds 1,193 votes to his existing tally of 947 votes to take his collection to 2,143, keeping him on top of the Most Popular Ruggerite of the Year competition.

Isipathana College three-quarter Sumudu Rankothge barges into second position with a total of 262 votes as Sasindu Rathnaweera of Ananda College secures the third slot. Royal College skipper Ovin Askey moves up to fourth position as the competition’s initial leader Yuzraan Lantra of Zahira College drops down to fifth.

Lee’s dominance also puts his team Wesley College in the fore in the Most Popular Rugby Team of the Year contest with a tally of 2,140 votes. Isipathana College continues to follow in second position ahead of Royal College.

The competition is well set to hot up with 11 more weeks to go. The competitions, which enable readers to vote for their most preferred school rugby player of the ongoing Singer Schools Division I Rugby League Championship 2017, will run until 30 July.
