An exclusive coaching camp – Learn from the Legends – will be held for children on 19 August at R. Premadasa Stadium with the participation of cricketers and coaches from both teams. Following on from the success of the Standard Chartered and Sri Lanka Cricket fund raising initiatives around the South Africa Tour for the Sri Lankan Visually Handicapped XI’s bid at this year’s World Cup in South Africa  in November, the two organisations have again joined forces to conduct similar activities around the Pakistan Tour. In addition to the coaching camp another initiative will be ‘Walk with the Heroes’ – an opportunity for 25 children between the ages of 6 and 12 to walk the cricketers on to the field at the opening ceremony of the ODI on 27 August at the R. Premadasa Stadium Sanjeewani de Silva, Head of Corporate Affairs/Brand & Marketing, Standard Chartered, commenting on the partnership with Sri Lanka Cricket said: “The activities we planned together around the South Africa Tour raised almost Rs. 2 million, and we are very optimistic that we will be able to raise as much around the Pakistan Tour too. All of the funds collected will go towards supporting our Visually Handicapped XI’s World Cup bid. How proud will we all be as a nation if once again we the World Cup! We share the dream of Visually Handicapped XI, and we invite all cricket lovers to share in making the dream a reality.” Once more the inspiration behind Standard Chartered’s community investment platform addressing curable blindness globally, Seeing is Believing, is the impetus for these fund raising activities. In addition to the coaching camp and the child ambassadors the online bidding competition for the “Seeing is Believing Super Fan” for each of the remaining test match and 3 ODIs has already commenced online. Four visually handicapped aspiring cricketers will once more participate in the events, sponsored by Standard Chartered. Participation at the coaching camp is priced at Rs. 5,000 a participant. Standard Chartered welcomes all inquiries and those interested may call Sushenka on 0779586919 or Shanil on 0773501545. Registrations for participation at the events may be made via the e mail address – [email protected] and marked to the attention of the Head of Corporate Affairs/Brand and Marketing.
