SLIIT emerges victorious at Inter University Shuttlers Fest

3rd April, 2012: The finals of the University of Moratuwa Inter University Shuttler’s Fest (UMiSF) 2012, recently organised by the University of Moratuwa, saw a brilliant display of sportsmanship by the participants. In the Inter University Tournament, the SLIIT shuttlers proved their mettle by dominating in almost every category and finally emerging Overall Champions.

The main team event of the tournament comprised teams of eight members who played in league basis. In the Mens’ category, SLIIT clearly dominated the series, going on to win the final by 3/1 against the University of Moratuwa. The Womens’ finals witnessed a similar outcome as SLIIT won against the 0University of Kelaniya by 3/1.

Results for the individual events are as follows; Winner of Mens’ Single - Omesh Fernando (SLIIT), Mens’ Doubles 1st Runner-Up - Mezaj Fernando and Thuwan Cassim (SLIIT), Winner of Womens’  Doubles - Gayani Perera and Uvini Senanayake (SLIIT) and Winner of Mixed  Doubles - Pubudu Tennakoon and Umalka Perera (SLIIT).
