SLPA CC elects new office bearers; to support national level cricket

The 29th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Sri Lanka Ports Authority Cricket Club (SLPA CC) was held on 14 March 2014 at the Mahapola Training Institute (MPTI) of Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA).
Since its establishment in 2011, SLPA CC has well performed in many segments of cricket, bringing glory to the game of cricket. It emerged Tier B One Day Champions in the season 2011/2012. Shanuka Dissanayake of SLPA CC won the best all-rounder at the SLC/CEAT Annual Awards 2011/2012 in the Premier League Tier B segment.
Significantly, SLPA CC played under 23 Division II Tournament, performing successfully to emerge Runners Up in 2013 and were promoted to Division I from 2014, along with the SSC. Current SLPA Captain Ashan Priyanjan made his ODI debut in Sharjah last December against Pakistan and established a new Sri Lankan record score in 74 runs which is the highest score by a debutant for Sri Lanka.
At present, SLPA CC is in the search of a permanent playground facility and until such time they have entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Colombo Gymkhana Club who facilitates them with a center wicket, a gymnasium, a swimming pool and other related facilities assuring the development of SLPA CC cricketers to perform well in the tournaments. The MoU will continue through the next five years till 2019.
At the recent Annual General Meeting of SLPA CC held at the Mahapola Training Institute of SLPA, new office bearers were elected for the next two years who will be supporting to uplift national level cricket in Sri Lanka and enabling more young cricketers to join the main stream of cricket in Sri Lanka.
