SLPA grabs inaugural Chris Hayman trophy

The inaugural Chris Hayman Cup, 20-over cricket match organised by Seatrade Communications in connection with the Sri Lanka Ports, Trade and Logistics Conference, Exhibition and Awards was held on 1 May 2013, at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The 20-over cricket match was played between the SLPA Chairman’s team and the Seatrade Communication Chairman’s team with the participation of Sri Lanka Cricket Secretary Nishantha Ranathunga.

Seatrade Chairman Chris Hayman won the toss and elected to bat first where the team scored 80 for eight wickets in 17 overs, with the Ana Senanayake scoring 17 runs for Seatrade Chairman’s team.

For the SLPA Chairman’s team, Dr. Priyath B. Wickrama collected three wickets for 24 runs, Agil Hewageegana two for 19, Janesh Rathnadasa two for 14 and Nalin Aponso one for 17.

In the rain curtailed inaugural Chris Hayman Cup 20-over match SLPA was given the target of 31 runs in five overs which they did losing no wickets in the process.

Ana Senanayake was selected as the best batsman, Sajith Fernando the best Fielder, Janesh Rathnadasa the best bowler and Dr. Priyath B. Wickrama the man of the match.

SLPA and Seatrade Communications are joint hosts of the 2nd Sri Lanka ports, Trade and Logistics Conference and Exhibition at the Hilton Hotel, from 1 to 3 May 2013.

The inaugural Seatrade Cup is schedule to continue in the future at foreign sea trade destinations.
