This international event saw the participation of 79 sailors from 13 countries namely China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Malaysia, India, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Australia, Czech Republic, New Zealand, USA and Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka Telecom was the Platinum Sponsor AND Broadband Service Provider for this prestigious international event held in Sri Lanka. SLT CEO Greg Young speaking on the significance of the event said, “We were happy to be the Platinum Sponsor and the Broadband provider for an international event of this calibre, where we could empower sportsmanship using state-of-the-art Broadband technologies. In this event, for the first time the boats were tracked using GPS technology so that viewers all over the world could monitor the results in real-time. The technology worked perfectly and the people all over the world logged in to view the races, which were shown live.”

Singapore secured the first title of the event by defeating Thailand in the finals, a delightful win, after having lost to Thailand narrowly at the 2011 finals. The steely comeback after a year, with some new team members, echoes the depth of the squad. The team race was conducted close to shore and followed by many spectators on the beach. This year’s regatta has provided all teams with an international regatta experience in tactically challenging conditions.
