Dr. Manjula Karunaratne and Dr. Janaka Gallangoda were the popular winners of the 105th Shakespeare Shield Golf Tournament played at the Royal Colombo Golf Club. The Shakespeare Shield Golf Tournament goes on record as being the oldest corporate competition registered on the Board of RCGC Competitions.

This unique tournament brings together participation from the high end of corporates, embassies, and other service organisations to compete at the highest level. The prestigious tournament is run by the Royal Colombo Golf Club and sponsored by Carson Cumberbatch Group.

The Shakespeare Shield Golf Tournament is named after W. Shakespeare, former Chairman of Carsons who was elected to the Committee in 1908. The format of the tournament was changed this year to make it a one-day stableford event moving away from tradition of the exciting match play format.

The winners were unstoppable with 42 stableford points to take the win for Softlogic Holdings. Scoring 34 points and coming a close second were runners-up Harsha Abeywickrama and Suhayb Sangani of Brandix. The long hitting duo had to concede to top stroke play by the medical doctor combination who played excellent golf. The Captain of the Royal Colombo Golf Club Mr. Primal Wijayanayake gave away the awards.
