There was only going to be one winner on 30 September 2012 at the Redbull Kart fight Srilanka. And that one winner would have got the opportunity to take Sri lanka to global Motor Sport, and for Speed Drome which is Sri Lanka’s one and only go kart centre, to provide that one winner was a matter of immense pride.
Speed Drome Pvt. Ltd has been at the fore front of producing talented young motor racing drivers for its short yet colourful journey over the past three years. Just days after celebrating its third year anniversary of serving Sri Lankan Motor Sports Eshan Siriwardene achieved something that topped all his predecessors and brought glory once again for Speed Drome at the Red Bull Kart Fight Sri Lanka.
The 18 year old Eshan Siriwardene has been trained at Speed Drome over the past year and has been one of the best young Karters and one of the most promising talents amongst the young talent at Speed Drome.
Taking part in the All Island pro Karting Championship in 2012 Eshan has been on top of the championship table and has always shown a keen interest in learning the basics of Motor Sport and looking for constant improvements in order to become one of the best Motor Racers in Sri Lanka which is the first step in becoming an International Star.
Speed Rome over the past few years have been training these youngsters for exactly this moment in their lives as to when an opportunity such as the Red Bull International Kart Fight comes to the shores of our Paradise Island. Speed Drome was represented at the Red Bull Kart Fight Sri Lanka by a 15 member team of young and promising talents of the Go Kart Racing in Sri Lanka which all of them reached the final 30 for races. Also the rest of the other three finalists Charith De Soyza, Eshan Peries and Kyle Crossland also emerged to finals from the team Speed Drome.
With the opportunity of representing Sri Lanka at the Redbull International Kart Fight Championships to be held in Italy at the end of this year, the stakes were high for these youngsters and the shot at an international event meant that they will be in the keen eyes of Motor Racing talent scouts who are a common sight at major international events such as this to pick out young talents into racing teams in Europe thereby giving Sri Lankans a hope at Formula Racing.
Speed Drome as well as all Motor Racing Enthusiasts all over Sri Lanka will be offering their best wishes to Eshan Siriwardene to make Sri Lanka proud at this year’s Redbull International Kart fight. May he bring pride to our Paradise Island and one day stand shoulder to shoulder with the legends of Motor Sport.
