The Sports Minister has dissolved the Sri Lanka Cricket Interim Committee and appointed a Competent Authority till elections are held.

Sport Minister Mahin-dananda Aluthgamage has appointed the Secretary to the Ministry of Sports, as the competent authority to Sri Lanka Cricket, the Ministry said.

The Sports Ministry dissolved the interim committee headed by of SLC on July 01 this year Soma-chandra de Silva following allegations of mismangement and appointed the present committee headed by Upali Dharmadasa for six months.

Elections to appoint a new board will be held before the end of the year, the Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage said earlier this month.

Sri Lanka Cricket has been administered by interim committees for seven years.

The mismanaged sports authority is in severe financial trouble after partially hosting the Cricket world Cup earlier this year and the players have not been paid since the end of the World Cup in April.
