Sri Lanka Cricket at its Executive Committee meeting on Thursday took far reaching decisions on several important aspects.
In a statement SLC said the Executive Committee decided to enhance the salaries of the Sri Lankan National Coaching Department staff that have performed and worked tirelessly throughout the year at the national training centre to develop the current and future national players of Sri Lanka Cricket.
“These Sri Lankan coaches have been recognised for their commitment and effort shown in grooming the national team to be the world’s best in the T20 format and joint 3rd in the ODI format and also for taking the national team to several World Cup Finals. These salary increments will be made with effect from 1 October 2013,” SLC said.
The ExCo also decided to review the salaries of the support staff in the coming months.
Salaries of all other category Employees of SLC will be reviewed after finalising the corporate plan of SLC by December 2013, the statement added.
SLC also said, that recommendations made by the Disciplinary Committee on the report submitted by the Inquiry Committee, the Executive Committee decided to suspend A.R.M Aroos from all forms of cricket management or representation in Sri Lanka Cricket for a period of five years, with immediate effect.
A report compiled by the committee appointed to nominate the National Head Coach was also tabled at the ExCo meeting. As recommended by the committee, the ExCo requested to conduct the interviews for the shortlisted candidates which comprises of two foreign and three local applicants in order to finalise the above appointment.
SLC also said in order to carry out the work more effectively in its cricket operations, it was decided by the Executive Committee to appoint Chandima Mapatuna as SLC Manager Tournaments and Umpiring with effect from 1 October 2013.
The ExCo also decided to contract five Under-23 players from the north and east into the national contract list of SLC. This request will be forwarded to the national selectors of SLC.
Another key announcement is that Singer Sri Lanka will be coming forward to sponsor Sri Lanka Schools Cricket for the next three years.
SLC’s ExCo also decided to introduce a Procurement Manual from 1 January 2014 for all its procurements in the future.
