Sri Lanka Golf inaugural inter club championship tees-off on Sunday

The Sri Lanka Golf Union said yesterday the Inaugural Sri Lanka Inter Club Golf Championship will tee off on 31 January at the Royal Colombo Golf Club course.

Royal Colombo Golf Club, Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, Victoria Golf & Country Resort, Eagles Golf Links, Sandy Bay Golf Links and Army Golf Club Diyatalawa will be represented and the Championship will be conducted in the Stable-ford points format. The best 11 scores from each team will count and the Team with the Best Total Aggregate Score will be the Inaugural Winners of the Sri Lanka Inter Club Golf Championship Challenge Shield.

The RCGC is expected to field 02 Teams of 25 players each whilst NEGC, VGCR, EGL, SBGL and AGC will field one team each.

Bally’s Entertainment the Title Sponsor for the Bally’s Sri Lanka Open 2015, has facilitated the participation of Professional Golfers playing in the Indian Pro Tour to make a bid for the prize money on offer. The total Prize purse has been increased to Rs. 2.5 million with partnership of Bally’s Entertainment, Co-Sponsor ‘United Tractor & Equipment’ (UTE CAT) and Affiliate Sponsorship from Associated Motorways – X-Trail & CML Walkers.

Thangaraja a Winner on the Indian Pro Golf Tour makes a valiant attempt to win the Bally’s Sri Lanka Open for the first time along with Lalith Kumara, Vijitha Bandara, Jehan De Saram (RCGC Club Pro), K. Chandradasa, Sisira Kumara, N. Ranga the leading Sri Lankan Amateurs among others.

The International challenge is led by Sandeep Syal, M. Dharma, Saqib Ahmed, Manav Jaini, Pradyumna Barbora from the Indian Pro Tour and Aadil Jahangir and Wasim Rana from Pakistan.

The Bally’s Sri Lanka Open 2015 is breaking new ground for Pro Golf to be established in Sri Lanka and thus promote the game and Sri Lankan Golfers to scale greater heights. 

Mithun Perera will not be in the field as he is currently playing in the $ One Million Singapore Open which is a joint Sanction Tournament of the Asian Tour & Japanese Tour 2016 Mithun is flying the Sri Lankan flag playing alongside top Golf Pro’s in the world with even Jordan Speith the current USPGA world #1 also in the field! Sri Lankan Golf is ready to step in to the next level with five Pro’s playing the Full Indian Golf Tour Card and Mithun Ranked 20th in the Asian Golf Tour in 2015
