The stage is all set for the final showdown between University Titans from six countries across the globe. In its second edition, Red Bull Campus Cricket has stepped up from being a South Asian to a World Series Championship with six countries battling it out to become world champions.
This is the second time Red Bull Campus Cricket makes its way to Sri Lanka with the South Asian finals being held in Sri Lanka last year. The aim is to provide budding cricketers an opportunity to turn their dreams of becoming professional cricketers into a reality. Red Bull Campus Cricket is a platform for college cricket and aims to give wings to the careers of future cricketing superstars. After a neck to neck competition between some of the best universities across six countries, teams will participate from Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The six contenders will compete, in 20 over matches, for the coveted title of Red Bull Campus Cricket World Finals from 2 to 6 April 2013, at the famed R. Premadasa Cricket Stadium Colombo.
Sri Lanka will be represented by the University of Moratuwa who beat the Sri Jayawardenapura University to clinch the title of the local qualifiers.
Red Bull Campus Cricket is the World’s first and only University league cricket championship played in accordance to ICC standards.
