The Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) Tuskers beat National Savings Bank (NSB) Jaguars 28/14, and in men’s singles, Nishangan Nadarajah beat Sankha Athukorala 61 the inaugural Sri Lanka Premier Tennis League conducted by the Queen’s Club. Sponsored by JAT Holdings, the matches were played at the Queen's Club courts, Colombo.The Open Doubles game saw Amritha Muttiah and Kemalie Herath beating Hasindhi Lokuge and Alana Seneviratne 62. Udith Wickramasingha and Jayendra Wijesekera beat Rukmal Cooray/Ganendran Subramaniam 64 in Veterans Doubles, while Avindra Perera beat Archana Lokuge 62 in Junior Boys Singles. Women’s Singles saw Amritha Muttiah beating Hasindhi Lokuge 63.
Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera unveils the plaque to commemorate the event watched by Tennis Convener of the Queen’s Club Asanga Seneviratne and Managing Director of JAT Holdings Aelian Gunawardena. Four teams – namely, SLT Tuskers, Cargills Eagles, NSB Jaguars and Crown Sharks – are competing in the tournament which will go on till 3 July.
