Sri Lanka completed a series victory over Bangladesh by beating them by 62 runs in the fifth and final game of the series in Mirpur. It was an impressive turnaround for the young visitors, after they were down 2-1 after the third game.

Once again it was Ramesh Mendis who was instrumental in Sri Lanka’s victory. The off-spinner took three wickets, including that of Bangladesh Captain Mosaddek Hossain for 18. He later removed the last two batsmen, and also inflicted a run-out towards the end. For the home side, Mehedy Hasan made a run-a-ball 37 that included four boundaries and a six, but he found little support at the other end.

After losing the toss, Sri Lanka was held together by Roshan Anurudhda’s half-century. The Sri Lankan No. 6 was at the crease in the 18th over with the score on 73 for four. He made 50 off 77 balls with six boundaries, and was the ninth batsman out. Minod Bhanuka struck four boundaries and a six in his 63-ball 37. Rifat Pradhan took three wickets while Mehedy picked up two.

Sri Lanka Under-19s 185 (Anurudhda 50, Rifat 3-29) beat Bangladesh Under-19s 123 (Mehedy 37, Mendis 3-24) by 62 runs
