Sri Lanka Telecom calls upon all passionate cyclists to join in the country’s longest cross-country cycle race, which is scheduled to begin on 27 July. ‘SLT Speed Up Cycle Sawariya’ will be a five-day event from Colombo to Batticaloa amidst an array of colorful events planned by SLT in order to add extra excitement to the much-anticipated event.
Organised with the partnership and fullest support of the Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka, which will ensure that the race is conducted according to the internationally recognised set of rules and regulations.
The men’s event will begin in Colombo and end in Batticaloa five days later,
1st Day – Colombo-Panadura-Kalutara-Galle-Matara: (150.7 km)
2nd Day – Matara-Dikwella-Beliaththa-Embilipitiya-Ratnapura: (150 km)
3rd Day – Ratnapura-Awissawella-Ruwanwella-Kegalle-Kandy: (127 km)
4th Day – Kandy-Kurunegala-Padeniya-Anuradhapura: (149.8 km)
5th Day – Anuradhapura-Dambulla-Habarana-Polonnaruwa: (106 km)
Polonnaruwa-Batticaloa: (97 km)
The women’s event will be limited to a single day, starting from Colombo and finishing in Ambalangoda, reaching a total distance of 80 km.
The prizes, which arrive at a total of almost Rs. 4 million, are as follows,
Men’s event: Total value of prizes amount to Rs. 3.3 million
Overall 1st Prize – Rs. 1,000,000
Overall 2nd Prize – Rs. 500,000
Overall 3rd Prize – Rs. 300,000
Overall Sprint Winner – Rs. 100,000
Overall Mountain Winner – Rs. 50,000
Best Young Rider (Under 23) – Rs. 50,000
Overall Best Team – Rs. 100,000
Women’s event: Total amount of prizes reach a total of Rs. 575,000
1st Prize – Rs. 200,000
2nd Prize – Rs. 150,000
3rd Prize – Rs. 100,000
4th Prize – Rs. 75,000
5th Prize – Rs. 50,000
