Sri Lanka Tennis Win 8 Medals at 12th South Asian Games

The eight member Sri Lankan tennis team ended up second in the tennis medals tally with 8 countries competing at the 12th South Asian Games. 

In the medals tally India ended up at the top position and Sri Lanka pushed Pakistan to the third position.

Sri Lankan tennis legend Harshana Godamanne was able to win two bronze medals for the country in the men’s doubles and mixed doubles categories.

Young Sharmal Dissanayake ended with two bronze medals in the men’s singles and Men’s doubles.

Dineshkanthan Thangarajah and Yasitha de Silva teamed up in the men’s doubles to give Sri Lanka another bronze medal,.

Amritha Muttiah won two bronze medals for Sri Lanka in the mixed doubles and women’s doubles categories.

Thisuri Molligoda Medhira Samarasinghe and Nethmi Waduge ended up with bronze medals in the women’s doubles for Sri Lanka.

With tennis returning to SAF Games after 20 years, the Sri Lankan contingent managed to bring glory to her motherland with an outstanding performance.

Coach Shalini de Silva and Manager Sujani Bogollagama played a major role in the team’s success.
