Sri Lanka to host 10th Asian Boys’ Volleyball Championship in Sept.

The 10th Asian Boys’ Volleyball Championship 2014 which was awarded to Sri Lanka under the auspices of the Asian Continental Volleyball Federation, will commence on 5 September and continue till 14 September at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium. Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation has made the relevant arrangements to ensure the successful roll out of the tournament. A line up of 15 countries including Sri Lanka will participate in this Championship. The participant countries include Australia, Bahrain, China, India, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Maldives, Qatar, China Taipei, Hong Kong, Turkmenistan and Sri Lanka. The Asian Volleyball Federation has decided to award this tournament to Sri Lanka following the appointment of Minister of Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare Dilan Perera to the administrative committee of the Asian Volleyball Federation. In addition, Sri Lanka has successfully conducted the 7th Asian Youth Boys’ Volleyball Tournament in 2008. The first three winning teams of this championship will stand the chance of qualifying for the World Cup Youth Boys’ Volleyball Championship in 2015 which will be organised by the international Volleyball Federation. This tournament is fully supported by Minister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage and organised jointly by Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation and the Ministry of Sports.
