While all eyes will be on the men’s rugby outfit under Dhanushka Ranjan, the women’s outfit will be returning to the third leg in Colombo on 15 October after missing out the second leg in South Korea. At present the inconsistent girls from Sri Lanka are placed number seven out of the 10 teams.
Only South Korea, India and Uzbekistan are behind Sri Lanka in the current points table. China and Japan lead the series with 22 points apiece while Hong Kong closely occupies the number three position with 16 points. Sri Lanka will need to maintain the overall number seven position at the end of the Colombo leg in order to qualify for the 2017 Asian Sevens series.
The Sri Lankan women will play Hong Kong (12:06 p.m.), China (14:40 p.m.) and Singapore (17:58 p.m.) on the opening day in their group encounters.
Pool C – China, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Singapore
