www.planet-f1.com: Daniel Ricciardo will have a taste of an old Red Bull racer when he puts an RB7 through its paces at the Show Car Run in Sri Lanka this month. Ricciardo, who is stepping up the senior team next season as Sebastian Vettel’s new team, is set to burn rubber when he takes to the streets of Kandy, Galle and Colombo. Starting on 13 December and ending two days later with the Colombo Night Race, the Aussie is eagerly awaiting his first visit to Sri Lanka. “I’m excited to go to Sri Lanka,” he said. “I’ve never been there before and what I do know about the country is through cricket – they’ve got a pretty good cricket team! I’m looking forward to visiting, to seeing a bit more and learning a bit more about the country. “In terms of the events, the more fans we see the better and hopefully they’ll be very enthusiastic. I guess some of them have probably never seen a Formula One car before so, seeing the smile on thousands of people’s faces will make me feel like I’ve done my job. That’s what we do these events for - to try to show what goes on in our world and let fans get up close to the car. “At a live demo there’s lots of noise and lots of feeling; you feel the vibrations because the car is so close. There’ll be lots of smoke from some burnouts, and hopefully a bit of speed as well so the fans can see what a Formula One car can really do. Hopefully they will have a great time!”
