Three Sri Lankans, Ishira Ritigahapola, Imran Meezan and Seniya Punchinilame, won the junior team bronze medal at the World Shoot competition last week.
The World Shoot was held in Florida, USA and was organised by the International Practical Shooting Confederation. The three youngsters made history by being the first Sri Lankans to have won a medal at the World Shoot. The Philippines finished first in the competition while the USA placed second.
The team was accompanied by national coach Capt. Sarath De Zoysa (Rtd.), who has been coaching the national team for the past 25 years. Ishira Rettigahapola is from Gateway College and is a member of the Sport Shooting Association, while Imran Meezan from Colombo International School and Seniya Punchinilame of Royal College are part of the Hill Country Sport Shooting Club and the Sport Shooting Association respectively.
