SriLankan retains travel trade swimming championship

The 28th Men’s and Women’s Swimming Championships 2012, sponsored by Akquasun Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., for the second successive year was concluded at the Thurstan College Pool recently. Twelve teams participated in a program of 54 events.

SriLankan Airlines retained the team championship, followed by Cinnamon Lakeside, Cinnamon Grand , the combined team from Walkers Tours & Whittalls Travels, and Mermaid Hotel & Club, Kalutara.

Best performances:

Novices Men: Asitha Jayawardene from Walkers/Whittalls and U.L.A.R.D. Perera from Cinnamon Grand were joint winners.

Novices Women: Stephanie Fernando from Walkers/Whittalls.

Championship Men: V.S. Warnapura from Jetwing Travels and U.A.D. Jayasekera from SriLankan Airlines were joint winners.

Championship Women: Indika Dissanayake from Cinnamon Lakeside.

Veterans Men: P.S.P. Dayananda & S.M.N. Kumara, both from SriLankan Airlines were joint winners.

Veterans Women: Soraya Hassan from SriLankan Airlines.

Awards were presented by Akquasun Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. Director Chaminda Dias and his wife Jennifer, Akquasun/Luxe Asia Manager Ishan Thirimanne, President Dushy Jayaweera and General Secretary Palitha Mendis, both from TTSC.
