Srilankasports.com to launch unique ‘Cricket Sevens’ in March

Sri Lankasports.com, Sri Lanka’s first sports website, is once again making arrangements to launch another path-breaking event, the first-of-its-kind in Sri Lanka, the first-ever Srilankasports.com intercompany 7-a-side softball cricket tournament.

Titled ‘Sri Lankasports.com Cricket Sevens,’ the intercompany soft ball cricket championship is to be played under a unique new concept and a mixed format (six males and one female per team).

The championship is open to banks, other financial institutions, and travel and hospitality trade with leasing FMCG brands.

The event will be conducted under the technical guidance of the Mercantile Softball Cricket Association on Sunday 19 March at the Shalika Grounds in Narahenpita. The tournament will be conducted amidst a festive atmosphere as a ‘day out’ for families with food stalls, musical bands and DJ music along with attractive prizes for the winners and runners up

The tournament hosts, who concluded their annual Netball Challenge for Mercantile organisations at the St. Joseph’s Sports Complex last week for a record 10th successful year has been in the forefront of launching many a sporting event in the island over the past decade.

Sri Lankasports.com organised Sri Lanka’s first-ever under 19 Schools’ Futsal event (Pro Sport-Sri Lankasports.com Futsal Challenge) under the direction of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Schools’ Football Association as well as the country’s first ever day-night Inter Club Beach football tournament and the inaugural Sri lankasports.com U15 Inter school Handball Championship.
