St. Mary’s Avissawela Girls champs in under-18 Rugby

St. Mary’s BV, Avissawella, became champions at the under-19 finals of the Sri Lanka School Girls Rugby Tournament beating Mahinda MV, Kurunegala, 12/7.

Madushika Maduwanthi of St Mary’s BV, Avissawella was adjudged the Best Player in the under 18 segment of the tournament which took place in Ruwanwella recently.

In the Under 14 Cup championship final Pallekanugala ‘A’, Kegall,e beat Imbulana MV 5/0 with Umeshika Thathsarani of Pallekanugala ‘A’ team judged Best Player. The Under 16 Cup championship was won by Pallekanugala ‘A’, Kegalle beating Dehiowita NS 15 points to nil.

In total, 30 teams participated in the tournament which was organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association. The tournament was sponsored by Nestlé.
