Opening batsman Wasala Herath struck a fluent century (100 in 63 balls, inclusive of 02 sixes and 10 fours) to help Ultra Tech Cement to build a 24 runs win over GlaxoSmithKline, in the ongoing 06th ‘Stafford-Honda’ – MCA “G” division 25-Over League Tournament 2016, continued on Poya Day.
Ultra Tech Cement riding on Herath’s century scored 209/7 in 25 overs and GSK gave a spirited chase via an unbroken 06th wicket stand of 85 runs in 49 balls, between Thisara Sethunga (77 not out in 52 balls, with 06 sixes and 06 fours) and N. Nadaraja (25 not out), but falling short by 24 runs.
A 100 runs stand for the 3rd wicket in 70 balls by Sisira Mudalige (85 not out in 52 balls, 01 six and 15 fours) and M. Prashanth (46) and an incredible spell of bowling by Nimesh Fernando (6 for 16 in 04 overs including a hat-trick) propelled Asia Asset finance to a huge 110 runs win over Group M-Media.
An unbroken 140 runs stand for the 2nd wicket in 64 balls between Harsha de Silva (66 not out) and Sagara Wijemanne (77 not out) lifted Palliyaguruge Group to a comfortable 09 wickets win over Jetwing Travels.
