Strong teams progress in MCA “D” division 40 over League Tournament

Vallibel Finance scored their 06th win on the trot beating Aitken Spence PLC by a massive margin of 136 runs, in the 13th Ceylon Cold Stores PLC sponsored, “Elephant House Lemonade” Trophy, MCA “D” division 40 over League Tournament 2016, continued during the long week-end. 

Vallibel skipper, Adeesha Nanayakkara hit a hurricane 175 in 111 balls, inclusive of 12 sixes and equal number of fours, being associated in 02 century stands in the process with Dhananjaya Perera (38) – 145 runs for the 3rd wicket in 123 balls and S. Keshawa (54) - 140 runs for the 4th wicket in 87 balls, sky rocketing their score to 324 for 7 in 40 overs 

A 141 runs opening stand in 100 balls between Denesh Vindyaka (89 in 65 balls with 06 sixes and 10 fours) and Buddhika Ekanayake ( 93 in 65 balls with 03 sixes & 10 fours) took Dialog Axiata “A” over the 300 runs mark (321 for 7 in 40 overs) and to a huge 150 runs win over United Tobacco. 

The other centurion for the Week-end was top order batsman, Kasun Chamara (106 in 115 balls inclusive of 14 hits to the ropes) from Kanrich Finance “B” which helped them to a 40 runs win over Commercial Leasing Co. 

Hilton Colombo Residences gave away 36 runs in extras, including 27 in wide deliveries as they handed over a 08 runs win to Central Finance Co. 

Week-end’s top bowling performances came from – Dilshan Hendeniya from Nations Trust Bank “B” ( 6-15-5- Vs. DPMC) ; Janith Buddhika from Asian Alliance Insurance (8-2-18-5 Vs. DPMC) & Naveen Subasinghe from Commercial Credit & Finance “B” (8-25-5 Vs. Expolnka )

The two low scoring games were, Kanrich Finance “B” surprisingly shot out for 58 runs in 22.3 overs Vs. NDB Bank & DPMC skittle out for 62 in 18.1 overs Vs NTB “B”  

Commercial Leasing, Kanrich Finance “B” and NDB are dead locked with equal points for the top spot with 01 match in hand in group “A” 

Commercial Credit & Finance “B” head group “B”, followed by Expolanka Hilton Residences and Central Finance having equal points. 

Unbeaten, Vallibel Finance head Group “C” followed by NTB “B”, Asian alliance Insurance with equal points. 

The tournament will be continued this weekend, 27 and 28 February with a match card of nine matches that will conclude the league stage of the tournament.
