Synrisers Hyderabad last night emerged 2016 IPL Champions beating the much fancied Royal Challengers Bangalore by eight wickets at the packed M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
Batting first Sunrisers scored 2007 for 7 with Captain David Warner setting the stage with 69 off 38 balls. Yuvraj Singh made 38 off 23 balls and B.C.J. Cutting hit 39 off 15 balls to help Sunrisers with a commanding total.
Chris Jordan was best among the bowlers with 3 wickets for 45 runs.
In reply RCB managed only 200 for loss of 7 wickets. This was despite a power packed opening stand of 114 between Gayle (76 off 38 balls inclusive of 8 sixes and four 4s) and Virat Kohli, who was out for 54 in 35 balls. Rest of RCB batsmen including A.B. de Villiers and Shane Watson failed to shine. The latter had a terrible match after he conceded 61 runs off his 4 overs during Sunrisers innings.
Cutting had a memorable first IPL final as he took two wickets for 35 runs.
