The Kandy District Table Tennis Association (KDTTA) promotion of the game for three schools in Kandy was a great start. Originally the project kicked off under former Kingswood Principal and present Director of Education National Schools Ranjith Chandrasekera and former national champion Dilmini Direckesz. This program saw its inception in 2011.
Players were selected from the Junior level at Under 10. This program was a huge success and later Kingswood College became champions in the Central Province and later on All Island Champions in the under 10 category.
The hardworking committee of the KDTTA has decided to introduce this sport to lesser-privileged schools in the area. This project was approved by the Department of Education in the Central Province.
