The 10th Gunner Supercross, which was held at the Minneriya Artillery Complex, concluded on 5 July following a series of successful races. Over 20,000 viewers from across the country were present at this prestigious motor racing event.
This was the sixth consecutive year that Fully Loaded Exide partnered the Gunner Supercross. It sponsors renowned racing car drivers and riders such as Aravinda Premadasa, who have performed exceptionally throughout their career, adding value to the brand. This year too they bagged an impressive list of awards.
Racing stalwart Premadasa once again emerged as the winner of the SL-GT category while newcomer Tyron Hendawitharana, who competed in the new Subaru Legacy category, also emerged victorious. Both Premadasa and Hendawitharana won the Team Champions car segment as well.
Riders Lahiru Jeewantha and Shehan C. Adhikari also showed much promise, securing first-place wins, while tying for second in the overall Team Rider Championship.
Drivers Chamida Weerasooriya and K. Parameshwaran came in third and fourth in their respective categories.
Browns Battery Division Deputy General Manager Ajith De Silva stated: “We wish to congratulate the Exide Team for their superlative performances this year and believe that they have fully earned all the accolades they received.”
He added: “We have achieved great exposure for the Exide brand through this sponsorship and the continuance of the same is a better fit for where we are right now – the market leaders in automotive batteries in Sri Lanka. We truly appreciate our partnership with Gunner Supercross and look forward to continuing our association next year as well.”
