A 3 under par round of 68 on the recently lengthened Nuwara Eliya Golf Course saw Nattawat Suvajanakorn take the honours on the first day winning the Victoria Cup by a comfortable margin of four strokes over Bangladeshi Md. Sajib Alifor the best gross score in the first round.
This was the key highlight of the Day One of the 127th Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championship 2014 organised by the Sri Lanka Golf Union.
The Illankoon Trophy for the best net score on the first day was also bagged by Nattawat whose net score was 68 as he is a scratch golfer.
The International Team Event leaders are Thailand with 143 followed by India on 150, Bangladesh 155, Sri Lanka – A & B tied for 4th spot on 156, Pakistan 159
The Indian ladies are streaks ahead with Astha Madan on 76 and Tvesa Maik on 81 and Sri Lanka’s old war horse leading the local contenders on 86.
Priath Fernando and G. Harrison are tied for first place with Gross 82 in the Senior Open for men aged 50+.
