Thalduwa Buddhist College win Stallions Sabaragamuwa Provincial Inter School Rugby Tournament

The Thalduwa Buddhist College A Team emerged as champions at the recently concluded Sabaragamuwa Provincial Inter School under 7 A- side Rugby Tournament held at the at Ruwanwella Rugby Grounds.

The tournament, which for the first time was supported by Carlton Seven’s Franchise Sabragamuwa Stallions saw 12 provincial teams and one team from Central province (Anuruddha College Nawalapitiya) participate. Thalduwa managed to overcome Eheliyagoda Central College “A” in the Cup Final, while Eheliyagoda Central College “A” beat Kegalu Vidyalaya to take the plate and in the bowl Eheliyagoda Central College “B” triumphed over Thalduwa Buddhist “B”. Four teams from the tournament will qualify to play in the all Island inter school B division 7-a-side under 20 tournament. The tournament was an immense success with Secretary to Sabaragamuwa Schools and Provincial Rugby Union K.S.P. Karunaratne (also a committee member of the referee society) ensuring the smooth running of the cup while also doubling up to assume referring duties of all the matches. Sabaragamuwa Stallions is directed by Nsports which is a National Franchise of Sri Lanka’s elite rugby competition Carlton Rugby 7s and owned by Royal Ceramics PLC.
