Carmart, the sole agent for the Peugeot brand recently conducted the Peugeot Golf Tour Sri Lanka 2013 at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC). This is Carmart’s third golf tournament in Sri Lanka, but it is the first time that Sri Lanka has been able to participate in the Peugeot Golf Tour International, which will be held in France. This tournament recorded an exceptional turnout with 220 attendees with a 100% attendance.  In fact, in terms of participation, it is the second highest tournament ever held at the RCGC. Following an unusual format for Sri Lankan golf, the tournament required players to form teams of two, for a style of play known as Texas Scramble. The winners of the tournament were Chris Krishnarajah and Dhanak Amarasinghe who were presented with their trophies by Carmart Managing Director Senake Amerasinghe, whilst the runners up, Sanjeev Viyrawanathan and Shiran Fernando received their awards from Car Mart CEO Yasendra Amerasinghe. The winning team will enjoy the opportunity to participate, with all expenses paid, at the Peugeot Golf Tour International in France. Speaking at the event Carmart CEO Yasendra Amerasinghe said: “Peugeot has a long-standing history with golf and for us to be able to participate in a worldwide tournament strengthens our existing ties with one of the world’s most popular and widely played sports.” He also touched on the brand’s strong presence in the local market stating: “Peugeot has a very strong heritage in Sri Lanka. Carmart is the oldest continuously running importer for Peugeot in the Asian region and one of the oldest in the world. We find that compared to some of the other countries in the region, Peugeot has a very strong brand presence and emotional connection in Sri Lanka because virtually everyone has either owned or knows someone who has owned a Peugeot. “There is an emotional link with the brand and customers always have very fond memories of the car and the brand and we are looking to really build on that going forward. Our philosophy is providing maximum value, not minimum price; which coincides perfectly with Peugeot’s three core values of excellence, emotion and allure. “Therefore the French style and flair of the Peugeot brand can also be easily associated with that of an up market style of a sport such as golf.” He explained: “This year we are focusing on consolidating and providing exceptional customer service. That is the key. In essence, we want our clientele to have a fantastic ownership experience. That has required substantial investment to renew our infrastructure, including our newly renovated Peugeot Blue Box showroom, and state of the art workshops in Colombo and Ratmalana, which are due to be completed shortly.”
