The Therese Candappa Memorial Bridge Tournament will be held at the Women’s International Hall on 9 July for the 12th consecutive year. The trophy is named after late Therese Candappa, who had a passion for the game and won several tournaments during her time.
Started by her late husband Reggie Candappa in 2002, the tournament has been carried on by her daughters Sriyani Tidball and Neela Marikkar in memory of their mother and has remained a popular event in the bridge calendar. This year’s tournament will bring together around 45 participants some of whom have partnered Candappa in bridge over the years. It will be an exciting event for Colombo’s bridge enthusiastic on 9 July morning when the 12th Therese Candappa Memorial Bridge Tournament gets underway.
