High-riding S. Thomas’ under Sri Lanka youth skipper Naveen Heenakankanamge will lock horns with the Wesley outfit at Longden Place in the pick of the weekend’s games.

The Thomians, who are enjoying one of their best seasons, have already accumulated two wins over Science College and Zahira College. The Thomians look a yard faster in their three quarter department along with their mobile forwards.

Science will be hoping to come out with their first win when they meet lowly-placed Prince of Wales at Longden Place today. Science are going through a lean patch under their new head Coach Ronny Ibrahim after losing a few players to other schools. St. Peter’s had a bad outing against Royal after totally dominating the second half, failing to score more than once. They will have an easy outing when they meet D.S. Senanayake College in Welisara. Isipathana College, who won both their games against Dharmaraja and St. Joseph’s College, are favoured to pull off a win against the Katugastota Antonians at Havelock Park.

The following Monday will see Trinity travelling down to Colombo for the third time after two 50-plus scores against Wesley College and Science College. They are the favourites against Zahira College but the lads from Maradana won’t be pushovers as they possess a heavier set of forwards. But Trinity, led by Nathan Yee and Deputy Anuk Boyagoda, are playing cohesive rugby and should be on the winning side. Royal will be in Kandy on the same day when they are hosted by Dharamaraja in Nittawela. Royal too won both their games against the Joes and St. Peter’s, who were off colour in their last encounter after losing three of their senior players due to injuries sustained in their game against St. Joseph’s College.
