Top teams progress at MCA ‘E’ Division 30-over League Tournament

Citizens Development Business, Regnis Lanka, Lankem Ceylon,  Softlogic Finance,  LOLC and Mercantile Investments posted back-to-back wins at the ongoing 14th MCA ‘E’ Division 30-over League Tournament - being played for the DPGC Challenge Trophy and sponsored by the David Pieris Group of  Companies - with action continuing during the previous weekend and on Poya Day.

CDB beat Union Assurance and Finlays; Regnis Lanka beat the Nawaloka Group and Gestetner; Softlogic Finance beat John Keells ‘C’ and Trellerborg Lanka; and LOLC beat Dialog ‘B’ and Noyon Lanka and Mercantile Investments beat Bimputh Finance and Virtusa. 

The top batsmen were (75 runs and over) Ramesh Fernando from Amana Bank (97 not out in 87 balls with one six and 12 fours vs. Gestetner); Rasika Weeraratne from Mast Far East (95 in 52 balls  with eight sixes and eight fours vs.  Ansell Lanka); Dilshan Rusiru from Mercantile Investments (89 vs. Bimputh Finance );  Mohamed Irfan from Regnis Lanka (85 vs. Ceylon  Tobacco);  Damith Wickramaratne  from LOLC  (84 vs. Noyon Lanka);  Nipuna Gamage  from UB Finance (83 vs. Astron Lanka); Rukshan Weerasinghe from Lankem Ceylon (78 vs. Nawaloka) and Kosala Dedigama  from Finlays  (75 vs. Emerchemie NB)

The top bowlers were (five wickets and over) Supun Vidana from Virtusa (4-23-5 vs. Noyon Lanka); Dhanushka Dhananjaya from Regnis Lanka (5.2-29-5 vs. Ceylon Tobacco); Matheesa de Silva from Ceylon Tobacco (6-31-5 vs. Regnis );  Lahiru Dias from DFCC Bank  (6-39-5 vs. Astron) Ashan  Sandaruwan from Noyon Lanka  (6-40-5 vs. Virtusa) and Umayanga Premakumara from CDB  (6-42-5 vs. Finlays).

One of the sponsor companies, Assetline Leasing, had the satisfaction of posting the highest team total for the weekend – 263 for 5 in 30 overs vs. Hilton Colombo and winning the match by a huge margin of 89 runs.
