Travel Trade Beach Volleyball on Saturday

It will be a enjoyable day of sun, sea and sand when the final event for 2016 in the Travel Trade Sports Club multi events calendar, the 10th Beach Volleyball Championships, sponsored by the Mount Lavinia Hotels Group and hosted by Club Bentota for the fifth successive year, takes place this Saturday, 11 February at Paradise Beach, Aluthgama, commencing at 8.30 a.m.

The following teams have so far confirmed their participation: Club Bentota, Cinnamon Grand Colombo, Mount Lavinia Hotel, Heritance Mahagedera, Hilton Colombo, Serendib Leisure and Green Holidays and Cape Weligama.  

The tournament will be conducted on a league and knockout basis for the Cup, Plate and Bowl. 

In the previous tournament held on 6 February 2015 at the same venue, in a home and home cup final, hosts Club Bentota ‘A’ beat their ‘B’ team; SriLankan Airlines ‘A’ won the plate final, as they  beat the Club Bentota ‘C’  team; and SriLankan Airlines ‘B’ won the bowl, beating Bentota Beach Hotel. Surprisingly, SriLankan Airlines for the first time is a notable absentee.
