Traditional “Big Match” cricket rivals, Trinity and Antonians will meet each other today but for a different ball game at the Pallekelle Rugby Stadium when they lock horns in one of the key Singer League 2016 rugby encounter. When both Kandy schools play each other it is always being a close affair plus a grudge battle between them.
Kick-off is scheduled at 4.15 pm.
Samuel Maduwantha is the key player for the Katugastota Antonians with the leading points scorer, excellent touch kicker plus being spot on with his place kicking will take Antonians through to a certain distance in this vital game. Centres Jehan Seelagama and Dinuk Amarasinghe should feed the hard running Winger, Wickramarachchi with the good ball at every given opportunity. They also have lanky second rower Mohamed Shabir being excellent both in attack as well in defense this season for the Katugastota lads.
Trinity is led by lanky second rower and national youth player, Rahul Karunathilake well supported by Number 8, Shalindra Alahakoon, flanker, Rukshan Dhammapala, Winger, Geeshan Pethiyagoda, Scrum Half, Anuk Boyagoda and Full Back, Shanushka Abeywickrema. Fly half, Lshan Wijesuriya kicking ability is a plus point for the “Lions” he contributing heavily for Trinity in the second round. At present Trinity is in 5th position with 21.5 points and the Antonians placed last with 15 points.
Former Science College player Priya Suranga will officiate this Under 20 encounter.
