Trinity and Kingswood through to U-16 school rugby quarterfinals

Two leading schools with a rich rugby tradition, Trinity College and Kingswood College, both qualified for the quarterfinal stage of the Sri Lanka Schools Under-16 rugby tournament which was worked off at the Trinity College Rugby Stadium in Pallekelle yesterday. 

Trinity and Kingswood will join four more Colombo schools and one each from the Sabaragamuwa and Southern province outfits at the quarterfinal stage which will be worked off in Colombo later this month. 

Results

Trinity beat Vidyartha 76-0 

Dharmaraja beat Maliyadeva 10-0 

St. Anthony’s beat Sarasavi MV 36-5 

Vidyartha beat Sri Rahula 20-5 

St. Anthony’s beat Sri Rahula 30-0 

Semifinals 

Trinity beat Dharmaraja 15-0 and Kingswood beat St. Anthony’s 31-5

 

Old Bens trounce Cooray Park 

Old Bens Sports Club, led by Johnson Fernando, scored a resounding 5-0 win over Cooray Park SC in their opening match of the All-island Veterans (0-40) Soccer Tournament 2017, played at Cooray Park last Saturday. OBSC led 4-0 at halftime. 

The goal-scorers were Creston Fernando (2), Jude Priyantha (2) and Pradeep Nishantha (1).
