Trinity hold edge over Thomians

Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia today. The game is scheduled to kick off at Havelock Park at 4.30 p.m. The two schools first met in 1955 and 23 years later the Canon R. S. De Saram Shield was introduced to the fixture. Reginald Steuart De Saram was the Warden of S. Thomas’ Mount Lavinia from 1932-1958. This season Trinity scored a runaway 50-37 win over the Rajans and then floored the Katugastota Antonians 49-13 despite playing without three of their regulars for this encounter. The Thomians meanwhile were beaten 17-26 by Science College and then went past the Rajans 39-26 in their second outing. The Thomians’ strength lies with their heavy set of forwards while Trinity possesses unusual strength in their three quarter line. The match will be refereed by Nizam Jamaldeen
