The Old Boys of Trinity will look to defend the inaugural G.C. Wickramasinghe Challenge Trophy which they won last year under Bimal Fernando against traditional rivals Royal College.

The encounter between the Old Boys of these two leading school will tee off on 19 May at 1.30 p.m. at the Victoria Golf Course in Digana.

This year’s Trinity outfit will be led by Sathies Balasubramaniam while the Old Royalists will be led by former Sri Lanka tennis skipper Arjun Fernando.

The format of the game will change to elect the winning team based on gross scores favouring the more experienced Royal team. Both teams will have many overseas alumni teeing off at this event which is an eagerly anticipated annual event. The Old Boys will tee off along with the respective principals on a shotgun start.  On an idea mooted by Trinity Principal Andrew Fowler Watt, Royal Principal B.A. Abeyratne will join the invitees group to be a part of the 2nd annual golf tournament. The tournament, which will be played on a team basis, will tee off today at 1.30 p.m.

Dynasty Residencies will be the event’s main sponsor while Sinhaputhra Finance Plc will chip in as the cosponsor.
