Old boys of Trinity will defend the inaugural G.C. Wickramasinghe Challenge Trophy which they won last year under Bimal Fernando. This year’s outfit will be led by Sathies Balasubramaniam who secured the highest gross score last year. Old Royalists will be led by former Sri Lanka Tennis skipper, Arjun Fernando.

The tournament, which will be played on a team basis, will tee off at 1:30 p.m. on 19 May, a day prior to the 1st leg of the Bradby Shield Rugby encounter between Trinity and Royal.

The format of the game will change to elect the winning team based on gross scores favoring the more experienced Royal team. Both teams will have many overseas alumni teeing off at this event which is a much looked forward annual event.

The old boys will tee off along with the respective principals on a shot gun start. On an idea mooted by Trinity Principal Andrew Fowler Watt, Royal Principal B.A. Abeyratne will join the invitees group to be part of the 2nd Annual Golf Tournament.

Dynasty Residencies will be the main sponsor with Sinhaputhra Finance PLC chipping in as the co-sponsor. (SJ)
