Twenty-seven-year-old former South African Under 20 training squad and England Sevens player Matt Turner will be assigned with the coaching duties of the Sri Lanka Sevens rugby team for the Asian sevens series in Thailand, China and Colombo plus the Olympic Qualifiers in Hong Kong later this year.

Turner, after representing the Western Province Under21 outfit, started playing for Bristol in England for the last years and played for Kings in the Super Rugby and represented the home team against the visiting British and Irish Lions outfit in 2009.

He made his Sevens debut for the England Sevens team in 2009. Turner, who was an automatic choice for the English outfit, scored more than 90 tries and was nominated as the IRB (International Rugby Board) Sevens Player of the Year in 2012. He was in Sri Lanka for the Carlton International Rugby Sevens, representing the Central Kings in 2013.
