The 2014 renewal of the Sri Lanka Open gets underway with the pre-qualifier round to be played on Friday for Amateurs and other participants who are over 9 handicap or without a Club handicap. The 2014 UTE CAT Sri Lanka Open has attracted 54 entries with eight professionals playing along with the best of the amateurs and juniors.
Anura Rohana who along with Nandasena Perera has won the ‘Open’ an unprecedented seven times, would love to establish the record for the highest number of wins. However, Mithun Perera who is the highest ranked Sri Lankan Pro in the PGTI and the Asian Tour will be flying in on Monday to walk on to the Tee for the first round.
Mithun, Prabagaran, Thangaraja,Tissa Chandradasa, Lalith Kumara, the RCGC Pro Jehan De Saram, the Malaysian Tour smart Rookie Zen Dharmaratne will all be itching to win their first RCGC Open. Amrapadma, Jessie Perera and Seven time winner Nandasena will complete the challenge with the top amateurs and juniors keen to make an impression. Wasim Rana and a leading Pro from Pakistan are also expected to face the starter and add colour to the already colourful Champioship!
