The incumbent President of the Travel Trade Sports Club, Veteran, Prabath Harshakumar was in brilliant form, as he took his firm Walkers Tours to two Travel Trade Badminton titles – Winner Open Team Championship and Runners-up Veterans Team Championships 2016.
The 21st Travel Trade Sports Club Badminton Championships, sponsored by Serendib Leisure, Hotels for the sixth year was concluded at S. Thomas’ College Indoor Stadium on Sunday.
A total of 20 teams participated in the Open Team Championship and 10 teams participated in Veterans Team Championships (Men Over 40 and Women Over 35)
Walkers Tours on their way to the title jumped a stiff hurdle when they eliminated the strong SriLankan Airlines in the Team Championship, Pre quarter finals.

Quarter finals: Cinnamon Grand Colombo “A” beat Citrus Waskaduwa 3/2; Walkers Tours beat Serendib Leisure 3/1; Classic Travels beat Habarana Village 3/2; Cinnamon Grand Colombo “B” beat Jetwing Travels 3/2.
Semi Finals: Walkers Tours beat Cinnamon Grand Colombo “A” 3/1; Cinnamon Grand Colombo “B” beat Classic Travels on a technical Knockout.
Final: Walkers Tours beat Cinnamon Grand Colombo “B” 3/0.
Results: Men’s Single: Joel Ratnayake (Walkers) beat Chandika Jayaratne (Cinnamon) 26/16, 26/12; Women’s single: Kavindya Perera (Walkers) beat Shanika Rajakaruna (Cinnamon) 21/6, W/O; Mixed Double: Prabath Harshakumar and Shivanthi Kottage (Walkers) beat Tharindu Samaranayake and Shanika Rajakaruna 21/8, 21/9 (Cinnamon).
Special Awards: Prabath Harshakumar and Joel Ratnayake were adjudged as the joint Most Outstanding Players and Kavindya Perera, Most Outstanding Player/Women (all three from Walkers Tours).

Semi-Finals: Sri Lankan Airlines beat Serendib Leisure 2/0 & Walkers Tours beat Kingsbury 2/1
