Hambantota (Sri Lanka), Aug.12 (ANI): Australian opener Shane Watson feels that he is hitting the ball really well again.
In an article for Fox Sports, Watson writes that all facets of Australia’s one-day game clicked very nicely into gear to get the momentum of the tour of Sri Lanka back in their favour.
Describing left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Johnson as absolutely outstanding during his spell of 6-31 against Sri Lanka in the first one-day international that was played here on Wednesday, Watson said: “It is always brilliant to see him perform so well. He is such a big weapon for us in all forms of cricket. When Mitch performs like this, we’re certainly going to win more matches than we lose.”
“It was nice for me personally to continue to feel in the groove and score a quick 69. Ricky Ponting and Michael Clarke also made beautifully crafted half centuries,” he adds.
“My personal preparation leading up to this series was really good. But there is always a little bit of rust when I haven’t played a match for a couple of months. But once I was able to get through the first couple of overs in the last two games, I now feel like I am hitting the ball really well again,” Watson said.
He said that Australia is all set to take on Sri Lanka in the second ODI to be played on Sunday at Hambantota.
