In post match comments Mahela Jayawardena said: “We are getting better and better. We played well but are still making mistakes. Hopefully, we don’t make it again. We try to execute different game plans and today our plan was good against India. Everyone should get credit. The two new balls do a bit in these conditions and it is important to save singles. Our bowlers bowled a good line consistently. We are getting good and looking forward to doing well in the coming games and then in the finals.”

Man of the match Nuwan Kulasekara said: “Ya, my strength is new ball and I like to use the conditions. Sachin is Master of Cricket, and it is good to have his wicket. Our bowling attack is good and Malinga is number 1 bowler in my opinion. It is good to play alongside him.”

India’s stand-in captain Virender Sehwag said: “We didn’t bowl well in the last 10 overs and didn’t bat well. I thought till the time Tendulkar and Gambhir were batting they would add few runs but unfortunately, we were three down inside 11 overs. Yes, in this summer I have got out many a times towards point or third man but I’m working on it in the nets. Hopefully, in the coming games we will pull up our socks and do well. We did miss Dhoni but we have to win the next two games.”
