Much awaited event of the Wesley College rugby calendar is making its way through this season.
The Wesley Junior Rugby Carnival 2014 is organised in conjunction with the 140th annual celebration of Wesley College, Colombo.
The event has reached new heights featuring activities that are sure to leave a bigger and better bang this year.
The Rugby carnival is being organised with the core idea of giving an opportunity for new players to perform and showcase their talent and skill for the game, thereby creating an entry point for new enrolment. Further, existing players also get an opportunity to highlight their potential; making room for coaches to identify and recognise their talent.
The organisers also believe that an event of this nature would contribute to attract more juniors to the game of rugby, through which Wesley College would be able to remain as one of the leading rugby playing schools in the country.
The matches will be played in five different categories, namely under-8, under-10, under-12, under-14 and under-16. Exhibition matches will be played between selected college rugby teams, with special feature being the old Wesleyites match and the parent’s rugby matches that will follow the line-up of activities for the day.
The rugby carnival is also a promising event where rugby lovers and past and present pupils can gather together for a fun time in good school spirit.
The rugby carnival will be held on 8 February (Saturday) at the Campbell Park grounds from 7.30 a.m. onwards.
